Worldwide equity markets are increasingly correlated, leaving fixed income as the only way achieve diversification.  But interest rates may be at secular lows, and the traditional 60/40 asset allocation model may be an endangered species.  We explore a class of mutual funds that offers absolute return strategies as a way to diversify equity exposure.

Peer group analysis is central to the evaluation of fund performance.  But impure peer groups invalidate fund performance analysis.  We describe the biases that impair peer group analysis, and show how advisors can determine the reliability of vendor databases.
